Idk i cant really make a fix opinion on it yet. to be fair once i went into the event chronicle i was quite surprised my cards literally deal nearly no damage anymore. like cards with 150k+ dmg deal 2k damage to the archwitches. I dont know if this is just a bug in calculations or if its supposed to be like that. I cant imagine how terrible this makes the game to new players who rely on grinding there to actually farm some proper cards first. The rework on the skillsystem itself looks a bit clumsy but also is a new challenge itself. After so many years any change can bring new strategys and new challenges to a game but so far it really feels like they rushed in with dirty written code to complete on a deadline instead of actually thinking things through or balancing anything.
Well i did a little more testing and idk to me this whole calculation seems stupid - Comparing the XLR Marguerite and the XLR Karma right now - my marguerite comes with 160k dmg in stats and Karma has 340k - Sure this would mean she strikes twice as powerfull average. Now expecting the skillset on attack marguerite has 600% buff each attack for herself. Karma does buff 200% for all allys each turn - which actually should Buff marguerite as well. In the end though my karma does 2x the damage of marguerite during the full combat. no matter if awakening boost or anything triggers by. Additionally i cant see a big need of support cards here as well as they intended to add. Basicly you simply now have to time skills to awakening buff situations in order to hit the highest damage. Whoever used those bunny tickets well will have fairly enough xlr cards to just brainlessly run through the game even with broken mathematical functions. Like even while i wasnt able to deal the amount of damage i would expect the only thing ending combat is 100 turn skip flee trigger since my cards simply wouldnt die.
In the demon realm event things look rather normal and just a bit edgy when it comes to stacking buffs.
All single proc cards are rendered useless now in version 8 due to the fact they change the skill activations. They changed it to random stat increase to 10.
The good thing is that ATK & DEF increasing cards and Awoken proc cards are now more valuable than before.
Yes, the new update has indeed affected the game play and style. The meta has now changed which players will with time adjust to. But the one element I am sad to see leave is acing and speed clearing all due to the nerfing of unleashers'. I've been playing since 2015 and one thing all dedicated players aimed for was speed play and playability.
I reviewed some uploads by GW Sonata and Nextercise on DRV Elite and noticed that for the top tier difficulties you really just need max damage, max stats and buffing. The cycling of procs coupled with awakening burst will carry you through the battle.
I can see what Mynet was trying to do with this update and that was to bring back some of the old school nostalgia in gameplay. The skills bar really sits along side the lower proc rate cards form the past (15%-20%).
I also think Mynet should follow a similar style of gaming development that Blizzard is doing with Diablo 4....
1.) Announce a major evolutionary game change
2.) Put a test phase out (2-3 weeks)
3.) Receive feedback from players to identify what THIER PLAYERS are saying
4.) Based on that feedback reconfigure reasonable changes and push out the product.
I am in the U.S and I have some friends that have played the game as long as I have who are whales, played the new update and announced they were leaving the game until another game change takes effect.
Personally I am using this event to experiment and go back to traditional deck building to see if I can find some fun in playing again with this new Update. I want to be able to find that same excitement again I once had when I first saw the moon and an SR drop. Hopefully I can..

Btw, If you haven't watched my Ultimate difficulty run yet, I'll explain it here:
I think it is essential to have exactly one each of buffers, AOE turnskip, multihitters, SP boosters (formerly unleashers), and burst unleasher. You might notice that you really need burst unleashers now as opposed to using it via 2nd skill or custom skill.
I'm still trying to figure out how the new damage calculation works but seems like it has something to do with how each buff works and how they're capped. it feels hella stupid but I don't have any better explanations for it. (and again, I'm basically bad with math so Idk exactly)
Tl;dr
Get more burst unleashers, and have the AOE turnskip and multihitter match the event's strong symbol.
In my opinion, the new update has royally screw up everything. I cannot even enjoy the game anymore. I wish they revert it back to how it was. The damage is so low to point that I cannot 1 shot a level 1 arcwitch with a max level XLR card.
